More than 2000 years old, Seville is one of southern Spain’s most beautiful cities. Tourists come to the city to see the huge 15th century Cathedral, Plaza del Oro, University and historic townhall, along with the numerous landscaped gardens, famous cusine and flamenco dancing. Guidebooks often describe Seville as the most stereotypically Spanish city due to its strong links to flamenco dancing, bull fighting and the Spanish holidays, known as fiestas which are celebrated with parties and processions. Often described as a gastronomic centre, Seville’s tapas scene is another of the main cultural attractions of the city. Local specialities include grilled meats in sauces fried and grilled seafood, spinach and chickpeas, Andalusian ham (Jamón ibérico), and gazpacho (a cold tomato soup). One thing is for certain both in Seville itself and in the nearby countryside there is no shortage of beauty, culture, food and entertainment for visitors to enjoy.
